The Battle Around Us

Do you ever feel like you're in a battle? Do
you ever feel like you want to give up because
things are just so hard! Like it would be easier
to just join the other side and stop fighting!!
You know, like not telling your kids "no" or
"stop fighting" or "no hitting" or "stop
talking back" anymore!
It may seem weird, but being a mom constantly
reminds me of the BATTLE all around me- the SPIRITUAL
battle that we are in. If you are not a Christian,
then this probably sounds crazy to you. But
for those who know their Bibles, we are in a
battle and it is all about GOOD vs EVIL.

This is what the Bible has to say about this
battle: "For we do not wrestle against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this age, against spiritual [hosts] of wickedness
in the heavenly places" Eph 6:12.

These are the 2 verses right before that verse:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your
stand against the devil's schemes." Eph 6:10-11

The full armor of God includes:
Helmet of Salvation
Breastplate of Righteousness
Belt of Truth
Shield of Faith
Sword of the Spirit: The Word of God

We need to understand salvation through trust
in Jesus Christ alone, and we need to "put
on" righteousness, truth, and faith. In
order to be offensive in this battle, we need
to know the Word of God.

When I get tired or frustrated, I may start to
believe a lie or my faith may start
to waiver. I will constantly go back to
the Word of God to remind myself that I
am on the right side of this battle and that
I cannot sit back or give up. I will spend time
in prayer asking God to make me the wife He wants
me to be and pray for my husband faithfully. With
God's strength I will take my thoughts captive to
Jesus Christ and think about what is pure. I will fight
to teach my children what is right, even when
everyone around them does not believe what the
Bible teaches. I will teach them truth and
help them learn to recognize the lies that our
society is teaching. I will remind them that
the Bible tells us:

"You are of God, little children, and have overcome
them, because He who is in you is greater than he
who is in the world."

Fight the good fight of faith! Finish your race
strong! It will be more than worth it!

  1. You must have a lot of things going around as a mom with the homeschooling, teaching softball clinics, among other things. How are you able to balance all these things? I do agree with life being full of battles at times. Thanks for this post.

  2. Yes, there is a lot going on. I am thankful I am able to homeschool because I get a lot of time with my boys. I see the battles in the lives of those around me who also are living lives of faith, so it reminds me that there is a lot at stake. I am just reminded to keep at the front of my mind what matters most.
