Thoughts on Prayer

I sent these thoughts on prayer to somebody who
asked me to share something with his students
in his youth group at church. I thought I'd
share them here too.

About praying: I have learned that we live busy
lifestyles that do not afford us much time to sit
before the Lord, but that is the very thing
we NEED to do. Satan loves the fact that we don't
take that time because it is so crucial. If it was
so very important for Jesus to get away and pray to
His Father after ministering to the people,
it is even more important for us! We need to learn
to go beyond superficial prayers and really come clean
before the Lord- ask forgiveness for specific sins
we've committed. We need to praise God and thank Him.
We need to see our positions as intercessors: we stand
in the gap in prayer and it is a huge position
for us all! There is power in prayer. We need to
believe God will answer, even if He answers "no" or
"not now". I look at the fact that God uses the prayer
of one person and does unbelievable miracles from the
Bible. We have that same power that the prophets
had, that Moses had, that David had and yet we don't
think God can use us that way. God is the same yesterday,
today and forever. We have the Holy Spirit inside of us,
and we need to pray for God's will in and around us!
Pray and then trust!!

"Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed
to the LORD, the fire was quenched." Numbers 11:2

"Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD
delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel,
and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still
over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon." So
the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the
people had revenge Upon their enemies. [Is] this not
written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still
in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go [down]
for about a whole day." Joshua 10:13-14
