My mind seems to think in analogies and one recently
that came to mind was of a diamond ring vs. cubic zirconia.
My thought went to comparing how many people call themselves
Christians or say they believe in God vs. how many people
live a life that stands apart and is recognized by
others as being the "REAL" Christian life (living the
way the Bible tells us to live).
It's important to realize that just saying you are
a Christian doesn't make you a Christian. Faith
in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross alone
brings salvation according to the Bible. The Bible
also tells us that Christians will be known by
their fruit. What kind of fruit? The Bible tells
us that "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness
and self-control." With God's help, those that walk
closely with Him display this fruit.
Cubic zirconia may look like a real diamond,
but when it's tested in the LIGHT, the truth
is recognized. Likewise, when we are tested through
trials and God's light, we see what kind of fruit we
bear. God wants us to replace whatever is taking the place
of Him in our lives so that we can have eternal life and
SHINE brightly. One more point: a fake diamond is worthless,
but the REAL thing is worth much! In life, a false hope will
be worth nothing, but REAL faith in Christ is and will be
worth EVERYTHING!
Replace the fake with the REAL thing!
